VolunteerEcclesia Ministries welcomes adults, high school and college students seeking one-time or regular volunteer service in all our programs. Students fulfilling community service requirements have designed programs of learning; adults and teens have created summer internships in our ministries. The Pastoral Care Team visits homeless men and women in local health care facilities and hospitals, in association with Boston Health Care for the Homeless. Ecclesia provides training in spiritual friendships, homelessness, pastoral skills, setting boundaries, safety, visiting hospitals, and related subjects. Team members receive ongoing supervision and support. If interested, please contact us at info@ecclesia-ministries.org for more information. Field SupervisionEach year we have supervised three to six seminarians and fellows from graduate schools including: Boston University, Harvard, Virginia, Andover Newton, The General Seminary and Episcopal Divinity School, and the Micah Fellows program. They assist with common cathedral, do street outreach, visit in prisons, hospitals, staff CityReach, and assist with teaching in parishes. Sunday Worship ServiceWe welcome churches, college groups, and organizations to volunteer for a Sunday to bring lunch, clothing, yourselves, and share liturgy, Eucharist, and time with our community. Contact our office for more information, and to schedule a visit.
Knit for Homeless PeopleWe are beginning a project for those who would like to help homeless people be warmer during the cold winter months. You may knit for our ministry or one in your own town. In observing the colors chosen by homeless friends when we put out clothing, it is clear they prefer dark subdued colors such as navy, dark green, black. Items you knit will be either given in the Christmas packs we will give out on Christmas Eve or on the street during the cold days following. Hats, scarves, mittens, and vests are most welcome. If you have favorite patterns feel free to use them, or you can use our pattern below:
Finished items can be sent to our office. It would be great if you would like to include a note to the person receiving your gift.
