Woodwork in Concert on April 20 On April 20, at 7:30 Woodwork will present a benefit concert for Ecclesia Ministries at the First Unitarian Society of Newton Hall located at 1326 Washington St., West Newton. Woodwork is a dynamic five-member acoustic folk band that performs soul stirring music that "comforts the afflicted and provokes the complacent." Opening for Woodwork will be singer-songwriter, Maria Termini, performing her own songs. The concert is sponsored by the Social Action Committee of the First Unitarian Society of Newton. Tickets are $12. for adults; $6. for children and senior citizens, available in advance or at the door. Seating is limited and the hall is wheelchair accessible. Refreshments will be available. All musicians are donating their talent to support the good work of Ecclesia Ministries of Boston with homeless men and women. For six years, Woodwork has performed at coffeehouses, folk venues, and benefits for non-profit organizations working for peace and justice. The members of the band, are: Dan Dick, Brett Frechette, Dennis Pearne, Christopher Rowan and Dick Scobie. They sing and play many instruments including mandolin, dobro, Celtic harp, wood flute, and cittern as they present exciting arrangements of traditional and contemporary folk music and songs by members of the band. Their music can be previewed at www.myspace.com/woodwork. Maria Termini is a singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on piano and guitar. She has performed extensively in churches, nursing homes, subways and coffeehouses. Her debut album, "Leafdancer", features folk music in English and Spanish, original songs such as "Green" and "Instant Opera", and classical music such as the Schubert "Ave Maria".
